Textured Pillow Cover Review

On top of everything else that 2020 brought, my family was in the middle of a huge home remodel. We started it before the pandemic arrived, and what was supposed to be a 4-5 month project became an over-a-year long project. It was a nightmare.

But now the nightmares are in the rearview mirror, and we are thoroughly enjoying our new home. And the best part for me was the actual decorating. I had such a great time picking out just the right floors, paint colors, art work, etc to make our house a reflection of our family.

Our bedroom has been done for a few months now, and although I loved it, I felt like something was missing...a few pillows! To give the room a more personal touch, I decided to make my own.

First up, I made the Textured Pillow Cover by LeeLee Knits. (It's the blue pillow in the picture above. To see the white pillow, click here.)

This pin made the rounds a few years ago, and I always liked it. I decided to make the pillow in one color, rather than 2, as the pattern shows..

The yarn I used is Caron One Pound in Midnight Blue. I absolutely LOVE this color and have been using it quite a bit lately. It's a beautiful dark blue, just a smidge lighter than a navy.

I used the 14" Poly Fil Pillow Insert, which I've used a few times before. These pillows are good for decorative use, but if you plan on using the pillows more often, you may want to go with a type that will keep its "puffiness" a bit longer,

LeeLee's pattern is very easy to follow and would be great for any size pillow. Although her pattern is specifically for a 14" pillow, I think it would be pretty easy for an intermediate crocheter to alter to the desired size.

This pattern only takes 3 stitches: dc (double crochet), fpdc (front post double crochet), and bpdc (back post double crochet). And she even has a video tutorial of the stitches, in case you don't know how to do them.

In addition to the written pattern, she has a small diagram showing the pattern. It is free on her website, and there is also the option to purchase a downloadable pdf version. I went with the free option, so I can't really speak on the pdf version.

All in all, I loved this Textured Pillow Cover! My pillow came out super cute, and it looks great in my new bedroom!
